Does Siri Offer a Clearly Identifiable Black American Voice on iPhone 17 Pro Max and iOS 26? What Our 2026 Audit Found
Apple introduced voices in 2021 that many users and journalists perceived as Black. A 2026 device audit found no explicitly labeled Black American Siri voice and no option clearly perceived as representing Black American speech. The gap between diversity existing in a system and a user being able to knowingly choose it is the subject of this report.
